Fill Your Mind With Positive Thoughts for Living a Healthy Life

Your mental and physical health are interdependent. Positive thoughts or positive thinking not only influence your health but also brings faith and hope needed for your self improvement and success.

Without faith, hope and trust, there is no promise for the future, and without a promising future, life has no direction and no justification.
- Adlin Sinclair

Good and positive thoughts bring faith, hope and trust along with good health.

A conscious human mind is never idle.

It is always busy thinking of something. Experts say, and you definitely agree, that 90% of the thoughts are junk. It is surprising how thoughts jump from one subject to another, one place to another and one person to another so fast!

Thought Process

How does your thinking process go on? If you are ill, do your thoughts crowd upon the illness? Do you get worried?

Thoughts get absorbed by your system at the deepest level and affect it positively or negatively depending on the type of thoughts.

Negative Thoughts

As an exercise, make your mind dwell on negative thoughts like jealousy, hatred, anger, resentment...

Think about someone you hate, or a situation you are unhappy with or made you angry... Observe how your body feels. Your face shows those negative feelings, your body gets tensed and experiences stress. It influences your health negatively and causes illness, if you happen to retain such thoughts for a long time.

Things can go much worse in certain situations. What happens when you have strong negative feelings towards somebody?

You always think of how you got affected and how you are going to settle the scores. Without your knowledge, you make that person the center of your life and your thoughts always wander around him. This will have a considerable negative effect on your mental and physical health.

I like to share with you my personal experience of making 'somebody you hate as the center of your life'.

It was 20 years back when I constructed my house. My contractor cheated and the quality of construction was much below the average.

I wanted to end the agreement when 80% of the work was completed. It was not easy as he gave enough trouble before quitting. I took all my energy, patience and positive thoughts not to end up as a nervous breakdown. I ended up with a house I was not happy at all.

For a long time I used to think of him, how to teach him a lesson, how to get even with him- I wanted to meet him in a corner with a gun in my hand. I wanted to fire on his legs and make him bedridden for life. I wanted to club him with an iron rod.

I wanted to blow up all the houses he was constructing. I wished his bike met with an accident...my mind was on him most of the time I was awake. Even I was dreaming of him. Without my knowledge, I made him the center of my life.

It was affecting my daily activities very much. I needed all my will power, effort, affirmations and a lot of positive thoughts to kick him out of my mind.

Positive Thoughts

Instead, when your mind is on happy or good thoughts- think of your loved ones, be it your girl/boy friend, your spouse, your child...the happy moments you spent with them, you feel differently. You can even think of any other happy or funny moment...

You live those moments again and your face breaks into a smile. Your body reacts to the positive good thoughts and is relaxed now irrespective of the condition a minute ago.

Thoughts and Health Relationship

Your health and your thought pattern are interlinked. What you think influences your well-being. Your thoughts are of your own choice and hence you can control them. It is very easy for the negative thoughts to crowd your mind and become a habit, where as more effort is required to push them out and fill with good and positive thoughts. You will get it by practice, persistence, patience and self-belief.

Getting rid of your negative thought towards others is good and it is equally or more important not to have negative thoughts towards yourself. Do you have love and respect towards yourself? Self-pity and self-hate also affect your health.

If you are not satisfied with a few things about you, don't be critical. Put all the efforts to change. If a few of the elements can't be changed, be happy with what you are. Because, if you can't love and respect yourself, how can you expect it from others?

Try some inspirational thoughts and repeat them until they settle in your mind. Negative thoughts automatically go out.

Forgive all who have offended you, not for them, but for yourself.
- Harriet Nelson

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
