- List out your positive aspects
When your self esteem is low, you become an expert in pointing out what is wrong with you rather than identifying what is right. It is easier to make a quick list of your weaknesses or deficiencies and a lot harder to list out your positive aspects- talents, strengths and skills. Make a list of both. Tuck that list of negative aspects away somewhere for future use. Keep your list of positive qualities handy. Keep reading them when ever you find time.
- Don’t blame yourself
When your self esteem is low, even a small mistake committed by you seems very big and you tend to blame yourself. You tend to think that you are the reason for any and every bad thing happening around you. If you fill your mind with self blame thoughts, you will feel incompetent. It prevents you from doing what you are capable of, since you already failed in your mind.

- Avoid seeing and listening to negative aspects in the society such as crime, terrorism, accidents, unemployment etc.. Repeated bombardment of such news impacts your mind negatively. You keep thinking of such things all the time. Remember, you
are what you think all day.
- Keep a watch on what type of thoughts are going into your mind. Negative thoughts try to dominate. You need to literally throw them out.

Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
- When you are angry or frustrated of yourself because, a few of your wants are not fulfilled, focus your attention on what you have- which many others are not fortunate enough to have.

- There are no short cuts or quick fix solutions to real success. Real success takes time, effort, discipline and patience. You may not see immediate results for your efforts. They come slowly and steadily. But their effect is permanent.
- Don’t get mad at yourself when you feel low- just know that it will pass.
- You are your topmost priority. Others or their needs come next to you. Don’t be afraid of conflicts, rejection or loss of approval. You can’t please everybody. Don’t even try it.
- Don’t be scared of criticism. Even the best person gets it.
